Toy Story 4, the newest film in the drip fed franchise with almost a decade between the last instalment and 11 years between 2 and 3, hit cinemas this month and whilst it was made for children it has 30 year olds everywhere balling like babies.
I’ll admit more than once feeling overwhelmed with emotion as these wonderfully crafted characters come to life once again.
The film is beautifully created and perhaps even a little slow in places for a younger audience but manages to justify its existence even time and again as it further develops the lovable toy of Woody.
If there is one complaint, and it is a stretch, it would be that the other toys take a back seat to Woody’s character development. Whilst other entries in the series focused on Woody they always gave enough room for the peripheral characters to grow. However TS4 doesn’t give other characters much time to develop.
Overall a great entry to the series and whilst it has been going for sometime I suppose I wouldn’t be obliged to see these toys again, maybe in another 10 years.
